I'll be arriving in Sacramento on the Southbound Coast Starlight in December and need to get to the airport. From some web searches, I found that a Taxi is approx. $27. It also appears I should be able to get an airport bus several blocks from the Amtrak station.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks, Andy

Google Yolobus and it will bring up a site that will give you all the information you need. I remember researching but never using this info. It looked pretty simple with two buses an hour leaving downtown Sacramento and very reasonable.

That taxi quote that you obtained is spot-on. I took a taxi from Sacramento Amtrak to SMF just a short time ago, and this was my first time out to SMF (but I've been to SAC Amtrak a million times). I was surprised at how remote the airport is to Sacramento itself....way out there by itself. It's a very small airport also.
I've never taken the Yolo Bus, but a quick look at their schedule doesn't look very attractive. For example, the downtown #42 bus takes 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to the airport. NO THANKS! When I click on their link for airport service, it takes me back to the #42 bus schedule. If you can save up the $27 for a taxi, I'd rather do that than sit on a bus for almost 2 hours for what should be a 10 to 15 minute car ride.

If you want to see "a very small airport" come to SBA! The terminal (which is soon to be enlarged) is smaller than some Hope Ranch or Montecito homes. SMF has two terminals and a separate "International Arrivals Building". Sad to say, but the onsite Host Hotel has closed for airport expansion.
