I was booking a quick SBA-LAX-SBA trip today and noticed that the fare on the Coast Starlight was $5.00 cheaper than the Surfliners. I would have taken it but the time didn't work for me. Any ideas of why the difference?

I thought of that but I picked another date at random (30 JAN 09) and it was the same. $21.00 for Surfliner and $16.00 for the Starlight.

That's wierd, it used to be more than the Surfliner. And of course timeliness is usually an issue.

I think MDRR has it. I just checked 30 DEC 08) and the Starlight is $20.00 and the Surfliner $21.00
