I was booking a quick SBA-LAX-SBA trip today and noticed that the fare on the Coast Starlight was $5.00 cheaper than the Surfliners. I would have taken it but the time didn't work for me. Any ideas of why the difference? Frank in Sunny SBA

Possibly empty seats they wanted to fill at last minute?

I thought of that but I picked another date at random (30 JAN 09) and it was the same. $21.00 for Surfliner and $16.00 for the Starlight. Frank in Dark and Cool SBA

That's wierd, it used to be more than the Surfliner. And of course timeliness is usually an issue. -------------------- Vicki in usually sunny Southern California
