Loved the "so-called timetable" comment LOL

My new "default" station (EKH) has no baggage service or QuikTrak machine, but the parking is free! And the NY Central RR Museum is just across the tracks (but not open at Amtrak train times. . ..)

Too funny.

But we've got to get a better file photo for Amtrak then an F40 in phase III paint.

Oh wait, I might get nailed trying to take a new photo [Big Grin]

I had a car attendant on the southbound Palmetto once who, as we ground to a halt over and over again to meet freights on CSX hold up the timetable and announce to the car in essence - "Folks, this timetable is a joke. We are going in the hole for as many freight trains as they can find and we are going to be late. One hour for sure. Maybe two or three so don't come up to me with this timetable saying 'it says here we're supposed to get to Rocky Mount at 3:00' because that isn't going to happen."

She went on to suggest that we take out our cell phones and give the people picking us up a call to warn them and then offered to let anyone without a cell phone use hers if there was anybody they needed to call. Double Points for handling a frustrating situation with honesty, good humor, and an offer of assistance.

For some of you who haven't heard this old joke on trainweb:

An engineer calls the dispatcher to find out what time it is. The dispatcher asks "what railroad are you?".

Engineer: "What difference does that make?. I just want to know the time!"

Dispatcher: "Well different roads use different ways of saying the time. If you're CSX, it's 2:30. If you are BNSF, it's 14:30. If you are UP, the big hand is on 6 and the little hand is on 2. And if you're Amtrak, it's Tuesday."
