I'd love to add the section of the Ethan Allen from Fort Edward to Rutland onto my routes traveled resume, but going to Rutland seems problematic because the train gets in so late. Has anyone ever stayed anywhere near this train station? What was it like? How did you get there?

Ideally I wish I could go on one way on the Ethan Allen and one way on the Vermonter and make a loop, but I'm not sure how with no car (without doing 2 nights in Vermont, which seems a waste since I've been to all these places before with a car). Any ideas? Maybe some kind of bus from Rutland after overnighting (if a good idea) to White River Junction????

I enjoyed your link Chris, but the info is quite a long time ago, and I believe that particuarl hotel is no longer in operation (looks like the closest Days Inn seems to be in Lebanon NH). Does anyone have more recent info about (a) arriving late in Rutland, (b) hotels to stay in there, and (c) leaving from Rutland in the morning? (Is there a caretake at the station? Is there a good place to wait?) Thanks!
