Advocating for passenger trains since 1973!

Climbing toward 5,000 posts like the Southwest Chief ascending Raton Pass. Cautiously, not nearly as fast as in the old days, and hoping to avoid premature reroutes.

3000 is the number of times
He's advocated for rail lines
Or talked of trips for which he pines:
"Shall I go here or there?"

"Use my points to ride then fly?"
Or stay on the ground, and watch go by
The backyards and mountains. Sigh.
As long as I'm on a train..."

Not related by kin (or nee)
To the Presley known to thee and me
As the one from Graceland, Tennessee
He hails from other where.

His notes are always positive
Suggestions he is quick to give
To ride the trains is why he lives
notelvis is his name.

You go, David!

Richard - thanks....

Ira - supurb.

I'm reminded of an Amtrak poster that I saw in Washington Union Station once -

"Where your love of the recliner meets your love of the great outdoors."

In a word - PERFECT!

Keep your post coming.

Are you doing Train Festival?

I will be having Steve Sandburg on Lets Talk Trains tomorrow for 40 minutes.

Thanks sojourner. I have longed hoped to get to quit my day job to be a poet, alas...

Thanks again folks -

Chris - Train Festival is a maybe. My wife has an old friend in Iowa City and we might make a family trip out of it...... one where she and my daughter play in Iowa City for a couple of days while I go over to the Quad Cities and do train stuff.

Ira - perhaps a poem about letting day jobs go would be in order!
