I'm assuming that you're interested in leaving a car for a few days while making a train trip.
There is a parking lot at the Amtrak Station in Memphis..... it's south of the station building (the former Illionois Central Central Station) and located at track level....roughly one story above Main Street.
This area, back in the day, was entirely railroad tracks and platforms but now only the one platform neccessary for the City of New Orleans remains.
The Amtrak Station itself is located at track level now as well..... and can be entered most easily from the parking lot.
At one point, there was a police precinct office inside the train station..... it's office tower now houses condominiums..... and there was normally at least a couple of police cars parked in the lot used by Amtrak passengers. I don't know if that's still the case though.
Hope this helps.

If you're driving south (away from downtown) on Main Street, the entrance to this parking lot will be on your right about two blocks BEYOND the train station. It loops up and back to reach the lot.
Auburn, KY sounds familiar. Isn't that close to Bowling Green?
