I'm planning a trip Westbound Chicago to Emeryville on #5 in late June. The last time I tried this (2 years ago) #5 was rerouted through Wyoming for track (or tunnel) work. Since my main purpose in taking this trip is to ride the part between Denver and Salt Lake City, I'm wondering if anyone's crystal ball shows similar reroutes this summer. Two years ago, I reclaimed my AGR points & took a different trip on the Texas Eagle, but I'd like to try the Rockies again.

My new "default" station (EKH) has no baggage service or QuikTrak machine, but the parking is free! And the NY Central RR Museum is just across the tracks (but not open at Amtrak train times. . ..)

Even if we had a spy in UP's Chief Engineer's office we probably would not be able to answer that one now, because even if they have it in the plan there are too many things that could happed between now and then that would cause their plan to be modified.
