Washington and Oregon have announced a new management partnership for AmtrakCascades train service between Eugene and Vancouver BC. The goal is to have one management partnership for the entire corridor rather than the existing separate management teams in Olympia and Salem. The goal is to
quote:create a corridor management plan to include governance, centralizing fleet management, scheduling, budgeting and capital planning, with a goal of improving passenger-rail performance that benefits riders and economies in both states.
This is an excellent idea and if it succeeds there may be benefits for other cross-border corridors. I'm just sorry to see that BC is not participating.
So, when we gonna see TrainGranny takin' a tilt on one of our Talgos?

The talgos are a great ride..... I like the really big windows.
Same reason I like the NCDOT Piedmonts..... Big Windows.

This is interesting, because I always just "assumed" (I know, I know...) that it was done this way already. How did they break it down before---and why?
Whoever was in charge of the Bistro Cars I think did a very nice job. The items offered for sale in there are always good, and I love how it's regional.

Here's some more information on the plan including a Q & A with a WSDOT spokesperson. The author of the article is a very good source of reliable information at that blog site.
