We're almost to L.A. on No. 3. It has so far been a near-perfect trip. Sleeper Pennsylvania in good repair, excellent sleeper attendant. Very good, perfectly prepared steak and half chicken, lovely veggieburger. First-class, cheery LSA in the diner. Sole waiter slightly spacy (fumbled orders a couple of times) but made up for it with his good humor. Only downer running out of one entree the second night. The train has been early into every stop and will tie up at L.A. an hour early if nothing goes wrong. This has been the ideal train trip. So far.

I would have waved but 4am is far too early for me. Ah, I see it was 14 late - still too early! Arrived LAX 55 minutes early.

Milld disappointment that train was 45 minutes early instead of the hoped-for full hour. I just have to learn to accept these setbacks.

Now on Surfliner heading for San Diego. As you can see, the on-board wi-fi is working.

When Amtrak manages to get it all together, the experience can be joyous.

I'll be interested to hear your ratings for the trip in the different categories you discussed on another topic. All A+ ?

Good time of the year to head for balmier climates!

Let's hope you have a great trip, and not a Carnival Splendor trip! [Wink]
