All--

My OLD friend, Gib G. from Snowmass, CO (We first met 50 years ago but only reunited on this Forum about 8 years ago!) is visiting sunny and warm SBA and we decided to do some train spotting today. We went down to SBA to see the late morning Surfliner and realized we could see it, instead, in Carpinteria (CPN). Wrong. I had forgotten about holiday traffic. It had just departed when we got there.

So, we went across the tracks to "The Spot" for a burger, intending to watch the Starlight speed through. Wrong. After several calls to Julie and speaking to an agent who said she'd have to call Santa Barbara and who then hung up on me I got an agent who said that it was still in Oxnard and "significantly delayed" with a mechanical problem and a medical emergency and that I should call back later.

The burger, though, was great as always!

Frank in sunny and warm SBA.

We spent the weekend at a campsite which turned out to be right next to the Metrolink Antelope Valley line. I made my excuses several times to stand at the entrance to the campsite to watch just a few of the many Metrolinks and UP double stacks pass by - roaring their way uphill, or whining (dynamic brakes) downhill.
