Growing up in my small town in N. Calif., we had an ice cream parlor that had a couple of pinball machines which took, I can't remember, dimes or quarters. There was a big sign which stated you had to be 16 years of age to play. However, they sort of looked the other way when we <16 yr. old kids wanted to play the machines. You just haven't lived if you never had a chance to play pinball machines back in the 1950's.

Reminds me of a game I had for the Amiga back in the 1990s called Pinball Dreams. It was quite groundbreaking back then. One of the four tables was called Steel Wheel: there is a picture of it here, though it doesn't really do it justice with graphics these days, or without the sound.

Are there any famous railroad-themed pinball games?
