It is interesting that the old Santa Fe Pasadena line is currently being partially rebuilt for the Gold Line. Some of the grade crossings are completed in South Pasadena, but I did not check out the Highland Park area of LA. I believe it is the LA segment of the route that has the local residents strongly protesting the line, mainly because of the potential danger to pedestrians and kids. The real danger comes from trespassing on the rail lines, not the trains themselves. People in other countries have no difficulty in living near trains without getting themselves maimed or killed; why are some of our locals so helpless and clueless?
