They are what I long to hear but are hardly ever heard on American RR's these days.

I am not too crazy about the whistle notes on most modern D/E engines. Many sound like they are out of tune. A D/E whistle should sound close to an American steal locomotive whistle but about an octave lower. A diminished 7th chord was common in the olden days.
