what colour will show up if the switch is set. and what will show up when it is in the normal possistion.

According to the AAR booklet "Quiz on Railroading" (Published 1966 now out of print to my knowledge) any switch stand with a posistion indication generaly shows a green panel (Known as flags) when set for normal. and a Red Flag when set for the siding.

This is a general rule. If concerened about aplication specific to your railroad further reasearch is in order.
