Got this link from the alt.railroad newsgroup (someone posted it on there, and the article is dated June 13th):

The article details the installation of a 2/3-mile long maglev line in Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. The train is supposed to max out at only 40 mph (but consider the length of the line). Is this the face of future intercity passenger rail...? (Remember, these are the trains that can keep up with the airliners...)

Where did this maglev train come from? Did someone donate it to the school? Who's paying for the construction and operation? It seems odd that a school would say, hey, let's build a maglev system!

Well, check out the article. Here's a quote with some answers:
