After our successful Coast Starlight/California Zephyr trip last month, I'd like to start planning our next adventure. We're traveling from Chicago, and after studying the route maps, it is unclear to me whether the Fullerton or Riverside stops on the Southwest Chief would be better for visiting the Orange County amusement parks. Also, I guess we'd have to rent a car, so which stop would provide more options.

Recalling a 1962 trip for which I was old enough to drink but not to rent, Fullerton was the recommended stop for which to access Disneyland.

Fullerton approx 5 miles north of Disneyland. Frequent Amtrak/Metrolink to Anaheim stadium about 1 mile from parks. Shuttle to park available, and most hotels/motels will pick you up at Anaheim (possibly most will do so at Fullerton too).
