Just info for those who do not know...AS IF!!! The knuckleheads in Catellus real estate has been selling off parcels of land at the Union Station so fast, there is practically nothing left. Account of this, many parking spaces have been converted to buildings..i.e. First 5 LA, the Metropolitan Water District, Metropolitan Tranist Authority, and now 2 huge condo/apartment complexes. The best bet for anyone wishing to park their vehicle is at the MTA building off of Vignes and Cesar Chavez. The rate is a flat $6.00. It may seem high, but there are over 1500 spots, and the LA Sheriff Deputies are stationed there (acct of Metrolink). It is well lighted and routinely checked by on site security personnel.

Just an afterthought...if Catellus got so much "good" money from the selling...why in the heck can they not clean the platforms, tracks, and hire better housekeeping staff? Platforms 11/12 is a disgrace... Unfortunately that is Amtrak's main platform. What on earth does a good bi-montnly steam cleaning cost? Good Grief!

I sometimes park in the small lot near tracks 1 & 2, opposite teh Amtrak employee parking. It's $12 there, and there aren't that many spaces, but you are closer to the trains.

The MTA parking structure is ok but on weekends they close some of the exits so you can end up doing some searching for a way out.

Construction close to the station is also occurring down in San Diego. Different developer -- same motivator -- make some bucks!
