"New food orders drop down the chute. He is way too busy to talk, anyway."

I think most people who have experience simplified dining do say the food is not awful, but not as good as before. The only thing I do not understand is how one person is taking care of every meal in the dining car (except dessets/beverages) ...I cannot see how this is working on busy routes such as the Coast Starlight. Also, someone said 2 servers would man the dining car, does that include an LSA figure?

I imagine the simplifed dining is effecting the employees fmuch worse then us riders,What I would like to know is; what the highest number of years of seniority an employee had before he/she was laid off. I imagine ALOT since I know for a fact the OBS members on the Coast Starlight has gone from 14-9 on May 3. Most crew members I have encountered have had several years working for Amtrak and did not excpect this.

Edit: Can Amtrak still be hiring any new Dining Car employees?

Oh well, if you want to be in OBS and be based in New Orleans Amtrak's HR office wants to talk to you.

Good luck filling those slots, Amtrak.
