So, my husband and I are both avid travelers on Amtrak, but he is the true railfan. For his birthday I read that Beech Grove is opening to the public for tours on November 11th, which being the luckiest woman alive, is my husband's birthday. Does anyone know where to go, if tickets are needed etc. The only info I have is the date and the time of the event. If anyone could help or give me more specifics it would make me the best wife ever. Thanks!

p.s. Cary if you read this, I'm sorry that you just figured out your birthday suprise, but a woman has to do what a woman has to do.

Scroll down the topics page on the Amtrak forum. The poster '1702' has a thread about Open House at Beech Grove and has posted a link. It's part of the City of Beech Grove's Centennial celebration and unlikely to be repeated anytime soon.

Jonathon - Beech Grove is on the southeast (? - I think) side of Indianapolis, Indiana, and has been used for many years as a passenger train repair/servicing facility

1702 - Info like - Exactly where do we go? Does it require a ticket? If so, how much are tickets and where can I get them? I really want to make sure that I have everything planned out to the last detail. Thanks.

The only info on the Centennial website is the date & time. Further inquiries are directed to the Beech Grove Public Library, altho the link is partially hidden behind some other text. I called the library & was told that tour shuttles will leave from the Senior Center in Beech Grove - the address is in my previous posting that notelvis mentioned.

The library's phone # is (317)788-4203, email is
