I got an e-mail from AGR this morning saying that they are giving me an additional 3000 points (total of 8000) for pre-registering for the new credit card that will be available in September. I have to, of course, apply for the card and use it.

I don't know if this is only for people who had previously pre-registered or if everyone will now get the 8,000 points.

Got the same email and am thrilled by the bonus points.

Those who are interested can pre-register for the new card at the Guest Rewards section of the Amtrak website for at least 5,000 bonus points!

It appears that the bonus points are only being offered to people who had registered previously. The website is still only offering the initial 5000. They are still saying the new card will be available in September.
