I have added a few things to my railroadrich.com web site -- you can now view the route maps I have put together for 2 of the routes (more coming!) on Snapfish -- go to railroadrich.com, click on "Railroad Stuff," then
"AMTRAK route guides." The only map sets I have put in so far are those from the Chicago-Grand Rapids route (Log #11) and Montreal-New York (Log #65). On each route guide page, there is a link to the Snapfish site at the bottom of the page.

You need to be registered with Snapfish to view the entire logs (called "albums" by Snapfish) -- registration is free, but if you don't wish to register, you can send me a PM with your e-mail address and I can e-mail you one of the "albums." (note: I have INCORRECTLY identified the "album" for Log #11 (CHI-GRR) on Snapfish as "Log #12"). I will correct that sometime.

In addition to the links, I have redone the narrative pages of each log to show mileages (from the "railroad log" albums) rather than times from each station.

Maybe it's just on my end, but when I go to your website and click on any of the three options (Railroad, Photos, and Parrothead), all I get is a long page of black and white computer language. A lot of cryptic language contained in brackets, lots of numbers, and other computer mumbo-jumbo.

I am using a Mac--not sure if that makes a difference.

Smitty -- your problem could be your use of a Mac or it could be pop-up blocker problems. Do you get a message telling you to allow pop-ups or disable pop-ups or something? When I "test run" the site after I have made changes, I get that too, but I have to click in an orange bar at the top of the page to "allow blocked material" or something.

I have no problem getting the site on my office computer (Windows Vista), even though I created the site on my home computer (Windows XP)

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, I'll contact my host.

I get the text as well - it's been delivered as raw text, not as HTML. You might need an filename extension of .html or .htm on your page names, though I've never heard of Avanquest or whatever it is to use to produce your pages nor know what type of server you run it on.

I *did* have the Pop-Up blocker turned on, but I turned it off and re-started Safari to see if that did anything, and it did not. I also tried it with Firefox (for Mac) and got the exact same thing. Just black and white text pages with computer language.

Something about what you have done is not Mac friendly. I tried using both Safari and Firefox. Yours has the distinction of being the only website I've not been able to get beyond the home page.

Didn't this happen once before when you tweaked the page? I seem to recall that you were eventually able to resolve the problem.

I wonder if the Jackson family has considered using rail instead of a "30 car 130 mile funeral cortege"?

I'm having the same problem with a Mac Mini and Firefox -- I see only HTML code. No idea what the problem is.

I just knew that the funeral would turn into a huge hoopla. I would NOT want to be a CHP officer working those districts when this thing takes place. It is going to be a mess...I hope the news choppers don't crash into each other.

Rich - I am able to access all areas and it is very nice. The only problem I had was, if I used my browser back button, I went to computer language. If I used your Home and other buttons all functioned fine. I have PC with Win XP.

If I use Firefox then the HTML text appears, but if I use IE then the page appears correctly. As I said before, if you renamr the page to have a .html suffix I think that will work.

Rich, It's a great site--I esp love the route guides, so very informative! But I am having the same situation as Vicki--no problem accessing, but I get a mess of computer language when I use my Back button.

OK, I'm home and can get to the site.

The one page that I see having an issue is when you attempt to use the link " railroad
stuff"

Going there resulted in HTML being displayed rather then the page

????????? -- I am working on trying to correct this. Funny how the site opens fine for some people and some computers, but not for others.

I have now given every page in the site a "file name" (not the name you see at the top of the page)with an .html extension. Is that making a difference for any of you?

(........I didn't think it would....)

Rich, the two pages you renamed with the .html extension now work fine for me. However, you've left one page out "railroad stuff" and that still comes up as raw HTML.

Geoff, and others -- yes you are right!! The only page I forgot to assign an .html file name to was the "Railroad stuff" page. I have corrected that now, and all pages now have an .html file name.
