Hey, Gil or Henry, any delays in Chicagoland from the windstorm you guys got today? Hope you're both ok.

Overrated; quite alive; and so is "Elmer" - my Chinese Elm.

How we send this one out to him:

So far, lots of twigs and branches down, but the North Shore seems to be bearing up well in this blow. (Not Peotone to the far southwest, which got heavily nailed by a tornado.) O'Hare was shut for a while, but the trains seem to be running. Amtrak Status Maps show only the usual p***-poor on-time performance.

We weren't so lucky in Richmond. Twisters danced across the northern edge of town here and caused damage. My sister's house was torn apart and the neighboring house lost a roof.
Fortunately, no one in Richmond was killed. Sis ran to the basement when she heard the "train" sound and escaped injury.
It could have been worse - a funnel ran through Downtown but wasn't strong enough to do any damage there.
As it is, there are power lines and big trees down in my neighborhood.
Since the damage was to the northeast of town, rail service shouldn't be much affected.
