I've been working on my "Bucket List" and Glacier National Park has been on it for some time.

In today’s email I received the AMTRAK Vacation email promoting National Parks. Glacier National Park is part of the promotion and after going though the choice I have narrowed it down to the "Glacier Park Adventure". It appears to provide a good variety of what there is to see.

I'm looking for any input as to this choice. Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe Urda

Joe, Glacier Park is a favorite of many of us here, including yours truly. There have been a number of threads devoted to it, and I'm sure you can find what you need to know on them. Click on the "search" button above, enter "Glacier Park," and there ya go . . .

I agree with Henry..there have been a lot of posts on Glacier Park that are worth looking up. I went to Glacier, last summer, & no doubt will be going back, again.

There are different things to see both east and west of the Continental Divide. On the east side, I enjoyed "Trick Falls", as well as Many Glacier Lodge and East Glacier Lodge, especially for photos. On the west side, I liked Lake McDonald Lodge and Trail of the Cedars. Take a Red Jammer bus if you get a chance. Also, Logan Pass along the Going to the Sun Road. The Izaak Walton Inn, on Highway 2 south of the park, is something I haven't seen but want to, someday. Watch out for grizzly bears!

The Waterton Lakes National Park, just north of Glacier, is worth the trip. Be sure to see the Prince of Wales Hotel..its a great photo opportunity. Finally, if you get a chance to travel west to Whitefish I'm sure you will enjoy that little town.

Stayed at the Izaak Walton on my honeymoon. Highly recommend as a railfan destination. Not so much as a place to take a new wife!

I stayed at the Izaak Walton Inn for 4 days last August. We enjoyed it. The tourist package with breakfast/dinner is well worth it. It also includes 2 activities. We chose the Red Jammer Circle Tour and whitewater rafting. It was definitely a memorable vacation via Amtrak. The other lodges also looked very tempting for spending a few days. The August weather cooperated nicely. Do a forum search on "Glacier Park". You will my trip report along with others who have made the trip.
