Is there a way to find out how many points it would be round trip from Anaheim to San Diego?
If I apply for the Amtrak/Chase credit card I get 12,000 points which I understand is enough to go anywhere in a single zone. If I went to San Diego using points that would not be the whole 12,000 correct?

It would be 1,000 points each way in coach or 1,500 each way in BusinessClass.

No problem. https://www.amtrakguestrewards.com/ will give you the "charges" for all of the awards.
