Good news......

Incremental improvement...... gradual expansion.

At this rate Asheville, NC might have rail passenger service by 2025!

But seriously, I am pleased to hear of any new rail service.

Shopaholics will love this. LL Bean and all those Brand Name Outlet stores .... they can now get there with ease.

Would love to see it extended to the Bangor area.
Have family there ... including my almost 5 yr old great grandaughter (boy does that give my age away .. lol).
Now I take the bus as it is further than I can drive these days.

Another example of how a well run state operation can provide great service. I've also heard the food is superior to amcafe fare.

While certainly not shopaholics, we're looking forward to a trip to LLB on this - that is a destination store. And the connection to the Maine Eastern is a great way to see that scenic Maine coast.

I do wonder why Amtrak doesn't make the connection from NEC a little easier - like a dedicated Thruway bus. But then maybe that should be a joint service with the state.

Has anyone gotten an update on the expanded Downeaster service? I am holding off on the revision of my Downeaster RR maps/guide until the schedule has been implemenetd. Is it still set for 11/1? Will there be any additional stops other than Brunswick?

All that you need is at www.nnepra.com

Freeport and Brunswick are the two stops east of Portland. Service begins 11/1/12
