This piece from today's New York Times makes me wonder if there could conceivably be a future change in the way Amtrak crew are tipped.

Probably not. Cultural inertia is very difficult to overcome.

Gotta say Mr. Kisor, since I pulled my Times this morning from the sleeve so that 'below the fold was face up', this article indeed caught, maybe we should say 'grabbed' my attention.

Now anyone think I am about to walk into the Indianapolis Ruth's Chris and 'conveniently' forget to tip Lafayette - a server who 'been around a while', knows his wines, and often has an 'off list' bottle for our party?

But as Mr. Kisor implies, something tells me some cheap old geezer/ette (and I would just as soon be seated elsewhere than his/er table) will use this Times article as a 'license' not to tip.
