I am seeing on another forum that the flooding in Colorado is causing a service disruption for the California Zephyr.

UP tracks are covered by slides in several places on the traditional D&RGW route between Denver and Winter Park. The UP route north of Denver is also blocked by high water around Greeley.

Yesterday the eastbound CZ (originating on the 11th) detoured through Wyoming and was turned in Cheyenne. #5(11) was turned in Denver with passengers being bussed between Denver and Cheyenne to coninue their trips.

Presumably this will be the drill again today and for several more days going forward.

As more details regarding the damage in Colorado emerge, I will add that it would only take one similar rain event over Raton Pass to permanently end Southwest Chief service on it's traditional route.
