I don't know how many of the readers here are fans of the scale model railroads, but if you are ever in San Diego, be sure to check out the San Diego Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park. It's a very impressive operation--over 27,000 sq. ft. with about 8000 sq. ft. devoted to an HO scale model of Tehachapi Pass. Every exhibit is fully functional and in-operation with plenty of volunteers on hand to talk about each layout. The Tehachapi layout is still a work in progress that may not be finished for many years. (But really, isn't every layout a work in progress?) If you are between the ages of 3 and 103 and have ever liked trains or model trains, you'll happily spend a couple of hours here.

Thanks - never heard of it! We used to go down that way 3-4 times a year to Legoland for the kids, and San Diego is only a little further.
