I just booked our summer AMTRAK trip for this year for my wife Jan and I. We will leave East Lansing on July 1 and go to Chicago on the Blue Water, then take the Texas Eagle to LAX. We arrive at LAX on July 4, and will spend a few days with Jan's son and his family, then on 7/7, we'll go to SAC via the thruway bus-San Joaquin-thruway bus route, and we'll stay at the Vagabond Inn. The next day we will visit the California Railroad Museum, then we'll come home on 7/9 via the CZ to Chicago, and Blue Water back to Mich. We have bedrooms reserved for the LD portions of our trip.
