The probability of UP and/or BNSF saying yes to this is somewhere less than 0.3. The matter of safety, the matter of communication with two different dispatch centers...

This concept doesn't seem like it would get much further than the crash test.

It could be useful in an urban or suburban setting. In the Seattle area it might work on the abandoned Eastside Rail Corridor, but I wouldn't want to ride it from Seattle to Spokane.
