The President has made a nomination, subject to Senate confirmation, of Theodore Rokita, a former Indiana 4th District Congressman, to the Amtrak Board:

The advocacy community is "up in arms"; to me, it's simply a case of a defeated hack politician wanting to "keep a toe in the Washington water".

He has an anti-Amtrak voting record. Rather than dipping his big toe in, he's liable to dropkick the company into oblivion.

Maybe there's hope.
quote:
Rokita tweeted favorably about a December 2017 ride with his son on Amtrak's three-day-a-week Cardinal service that passes through Indiana on its route between New York City and Washington, D.C. to Chicago.

"Great to be cruising through Indiana on the Hoosier State Cardinal Line with Ryan. Busy night on the train with all 10 cars being sold out," Rokita said.

Mr.Vincent does have a point. While the C,I,&L (aka Monon) is not shown on the map, it should be evident that such, i.e. Cardinal/Hoosier State, runs N-S through District:

One further point of interest; Mr. Rodika held office during the entire time of the Ed Ellis Hoosier State varietal. To what extent he was influential in bringing an outside contractor to the table, I know not.
