Richard, it appears the mobile phone "app" can now do whatever the "desktop" site can do. Previously, Auto Train could not be booked, nor could Guest Rewards redemptions. Now they can.
But alas, specific seat assignments remain a bit "over their heads".

It does seem so, with regard to being "over their heads". Would you eventually be able to book sleepers with the app? I haven't booked an Amtrak sleeper in 2-3 years. Back then, when I called Julie, she had to transfer me to a real, live person for sleeper bookings. I don't really understand why.
