There is some chance that I may take a journey "down under". My Niece and her Aussie husband plus two (half Aussie) kids have emigrated to Sydney. I wasn't all that surprised when I learned of such.

Now she wants me to "come on down" sometime next year - and I just might take her up on this.

I especially might take her up on it in view of that I have a $1750 refund voucher from United that must be ticketed for travel by May 11. But I have to consider that I'm almost 75 and time zone changes are harder to take the older one gets - also 21 hrs on the "big bird".

To the point here is that I might want to visit Melbourne during the trip. According to Seat 61, it appears there are "two a day" with one being an overnight that presently has Sleeper service. However, the site seems to suggest that "they're cutting this, and cutting that". It appears that passenger trains have less public support down there than up here.

Thoughts, anyone?
