Date of origin from ORL, please Mr. Fan Trains.
Absent sharing that with the Forum, your inquiry is less than meaningless.

There doesn't appear to be any train #1 operating at this time (today) anywhere between Orlando and LA. The last #1 to depart Orlando (5/27) arrived yesterday at LAX a mere 4:17 late.

Train No. 1 was disrupted because of the track work on the CSX being done for 6 weeks between Tallahassee and Jacksonville, Florida. The trains will resume with full service soon. Part of the route was temporarily run on dedicated bus service.

What are the dates for the trackwork? What dates will the Sunset not run east of New Orleans? I have a trip in a couple of weeks and Amtrak is bad about dispensing information.

Me too, Silverstar. I think I read/heard, that the track work was to be completed by June 6. Hope so!

Found this, SilverStar:
Freight railroad company CSX will install new track on the line they own and operate between Tallahassee and Pensacola. This infrastructure upgrade will temporarily affect Amtrak service in the Southeast.
For a one-month period trains 1and 2, the westbound and eastbound Sunset Limited, will be canceled between New Orleans and Orlando. The effective dates are:
Train 1 canceled Orlando to New Orleans: 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6 Train 2 canceled New Orleans to Orlando: 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, 5/4 To accommodate passengers traveling between New Orleans, Orlando and intermediate stops, substitute bus service will be provided. Two express and one local bus connection will be offered in each direction as follows:
An express bus between New Orleans, Deland, Fla. and Jacksonville An express bus between New Orleans, Pensacola and Orlando A local bus between New Orleans and Orlando A local bus between Jacksonville and New Orleans

Funny, today's scheduled arrival of #1 at LAX, previously a "service disruption" is now back to "normal":
quote: As of the last report at 7:09 AM, at Maricopa, AZ, it was running 9 hours and 32 minutes late.
Update, 5:50 PM:
quote:Estimated arrival: 14 hours and 36 minutes late. As of the last report at 4:48 PM, at Yuma, AZ, it was running 15 hours and 39 minutes late.
