A major brush fire has closed the coast route north of Santa Barbara. California Department of Forestry (CDF) reports two trestles damaged. Highway 101 is closed as well through Gaviota Pass. The Starlight will be disrupted, but with Highway 101 closed, bussing around the fire will be difficult and time consuming.

The Surfliners running to and from SLO are also affected. As of this morning the only way around the fire was over San Marcos Pass (Highway 154) but that was extremely congested.

How long do you think this could affect the Starlight?

Hiway 101 both north and southbound is set to reopen tonight at 7PM. Local news says that ties on one trestle were burned and that railroad crews are working on it.
