I'll be taking the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to San Francisco (Oakland) and back. I haven't been on the Starlight in years, so it will be interesting to see how it has changed into Amtrak's finest (well not for on time performance but everything else should be top notch).

The last time I took the Starlight was actually on a private car (Yorba Buena), and the trip before that was on the Princess Tours full dome. So it has been a long time since I've been on the "Amtrak" Coast Starlight.

It should be fun, and I'm looking forward to the Pacific Parlor car, as I model the Santa Fe El Capitan (Hi-Level) in HO scale. Let's hope I get one of the Hi-Levels, and not a regular Superliner Lounge.

Anything that I should know about, or prepare for? It's been a while since I've been on the Starlight. In fact the last time I went to San Fran, we got off at the old dump of a station in Oakland (will be nice to see Jack London station).

I've already reprogrammed my scanner for the Starlight's frequencies, and I can't wait for the trip. It should be a blast.
