The Sunset will be operating it's original route
(NOL-LAX) once again as of 11/3/05. This is great news. I will try to get on one of the inagural runs to show my support.

The article said that the segment from NOL to ORL will be restored next year due to severe track damage.

I am delighted to see the 'Sunset' return to NOL this soon. It will have a chance to re-establish itself before the Thanksgiving and Christmas travel seasons.

As for the other part of the route, I interpreted that to read it would not be possible to restore service along the CSX route before next year. I didn't see an assurance that service would resume once it's possible to do so.

Perhaps, though, this break in service will eventually allow Amtrak to restore it next year as a 'new' and separate train without the negative name association the 'Sunset' likely has in the Forida panhandle.
