Ok, I know that meals are included when you travel first class. What would be an example of what meals include for lunch? for dinner? Would it include things such as side salads? desserts? Thanks bunches.

Well, I'm not sure with the new meals, but whenever I've traveled in the past, you could have a salad with dinner and desserts with lunch and dinner. Although, sometimes they ran out of things, especially the second day. For instance, one time they ran out of eggs for breakfast, and another time they ran out of desserts.

Desserts are offered for lunch and dinner. At dinner you receive a salad and roll. Some lunch items include a side salad.

You can see images of the menu at my site,
http://paul.internetforall.com I'll post some deeper links later (I'm travelling now).

PaulB - I loved your pictures especially from the Southwest Chief. I see you labeled them with where you were when they were taken. How do you know where you are when you are on the train? Is there some sort of guide that you use or is it just prior train experience. I will be taking this train in less than a week.

Dizney1990 ---
Here is an excellent trip/route guide that is available on this website
http://www.trainweb.com/routes/route_03/rg_3old.htm

I printed it when I took my first of several trips on the Southwest Chief. (There are also route guides for most other Amtrak routes.)I think you might find it most interesting and helpful. ----- Dee

24 days until my next Amtrak adventure !!
