Sad news today that Rob Carlson of Altamont Press Fame was found dead. Say a prayer for his family and his work on that great web site will truly be missed.

Another untimely loss.

We've lost some good people already this year (ie: Robert Soule, one of the founders of the Tennessee Valley Railway Museum comes to mind).

Thanks Chris for sharing this unhappy news with us.

I hate to be ignorant, but who was Rob Carlson? Is Altamont Press a railroad/railfan publisher?

Rob was the founder of Altamont Press with all those great timetables they produced for sale plus we ran Railroadnews.net one of the first train web sites and was always at Winterail. He was a true fixture in the railfan community and we will all miss him.
