I have 2 computers. On my older computer, I have no problem in downloading train schedules from the Amtrak site. On my newer computer (with a newer version of Adobe Acrobat) I can download most schedules, such as the ones for the Calif. Zephyr and Coast Starlight, but it won't let me download the schedule for the Amtrak Cascades. I get a message saying "error in processing page, invalid function resource". I have no problem in downloading the Cascade schedule in my other (older computer). Any suggestions as to what the problem is? Thanks.

Cascade schedules were returned "just like that" with the Adobe 7 that came with my computer acquired this past January (it has XP - by choice).

Is the problem with downloading, or with opening the file and reading it? I have Acrobat Reader 7.0, and it works just fine with the Cascades schedule.

If you are trying to read it in your browser, try downloading it by right clicking the link and selecting "save link as" or "save target as" then try to open the file in Acrobat Reader offline.

By the way, the current posted schedule is the revised one relating to the Talgo trainsets being out of service. The first trainset was reportedly returned to service this weekend, and the rest are expected to return this month. The schedule should return to normal by November, so if you are traveling after October the schedule won't be correct anyway.

I just downloaded "Adobe Reader 8.1". It now works..I can download the Cascade schedule. I thought I downloaded the newest version of the Adobe Reader a few months ago..but it did not work. It now works...hooraw!

Mr. Toy..yes, I will wait and check after the Talgos get back in service.

I wanted to get the recent Cascade schedule for planning a trip next summer. I hope, along with friends from the Santa Rosa area, to fly to from Santa Rosa, CA to Portland and then take the Cascades from Portland to Vancouver. From there, either the Whistler Mountaineer and or the Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf service (if we can afford the $$..I understand the Canadian doller is = to the American dollar, now). If we go with the Rocky Mountaineer. we would either go to Whistler and then the newer route to Quesnel and Japer, or forgo Whistler and take the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Jasper. Maybe return on the VIA to Vancouver. I know both the WM and RM book up fast..so I think it would be good to get reservations this fall.

I have heard, reading this board, that there might be a through Cascade all the way from Eugene to Vancouver? Is this so? Also, I also remember people mentioning that a morning Cascade, out of Vancouver, is in the offing. If so, anyone know when such info. will come out? I thought someone suggested not until the spring of next year. Maybe I can get the Canadian trains booked and wait for the new Cascade schedules to come out next spring (?). It would really be great if, by next summer, there was a through train between Portland and Vancouver.

Thanks,

Richard

Richard, according to the Post the other day the Canadian dollar has now surpassed the American dollar.

I guess bad news for us..good news for Canada, Train Lady. It seemed to always be around 75 cents American equaled $1.00 Canadian, which was nice if you stayed a while in Canada.

True!! We were able to spend several weeks in Canada due to the exchange rate. Ah, the "good old days"
