Hello:
We will be scheduled to depart on the Empire Builder from Chicago @ 2:15 p.m. We live in southern Illinois and would like to take the Saluki north that will arrive in Chicago @ 1:00 p.m. Does anyone know how this train's "arrival time" has been? Since that only allows one hour of layover..we don't want to miss our connection if delays happen. We could take the City of New Orleans but it gets in to Chicago at 9:00 a.m. and we would than have a longer layover time.
Any suggestions from experience?
Thanks in advance.

Try this site out: Amtrak delays.Type in the train numbers, and it will generate a record of the punctuality of the given train for the past week or so.
