Prediction: Amtrak will be appropriated Thirty Four One Thousandth of One Percent of the Federal FY 09 Budget.

Cutting to the chase, $1.45B.

But then we must justify NARP's existence; $800M means it's time to fire up the 'rally round the flag boys' rhetoric machine. On that point, looks like NARP has been burning the midnight oil.

I wouldn't stress over the "Bush Budget". He's a Lame Duck and the Republicans are deserting him and the Democrats will ignore him.

Even when the Republican's controlled Capitol Hill they never approved Bush's Amtrak cuts, and the Democrats continued the tradition after their 2006 takeover. GBN is correct, it'll be $1.45 billion, give or take half a billion.
