I just completed a short getaway trip on the Sunset Limited from Arizona to SanAntonio. This was the first trip I had taken since the meal service recently changed on LD trains.

The breakfast seemed better than I have had in the past. The 3 egg omelet was tasty and fresh.

The lunch was about the same I have had in the past. I had a build your own burger. This was good and was on par for what I have had in the past.

For dinner I had the flat iron steak. Despite some postings on this forum to the contrary, my steak was tender and very good. Hopefully this improvement wasn't an isolated incident and others can enjoy the flat iron steak in the future.

Overall, the trip was enjoyable and only ran about an hour late for my departure in Maricopa, AZ (I hope they can come back to Phoenix soon) and arrival in SanAntonio.

I stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Express-River Center area, which is very close to the SanAntonio station. The accomodations at this hotel were superb and close to the Riverwalk area and Alamo, which is where I spent most of the next day exploring. I did pass a Best Western on Commerce street which may be an option for future trips also, but I haven't read any reviews on that hotel.

I have posted photos of the trip at my website if interested. http://web.mac.com/ameyer1/iWeb
