Railroad.net's forums -- including the Amtrak one -- have been unavailable for a day or so. Does anyone know what's going on over there?

Some sort of software or server upgrade is being undertaken by the host of RR.net. It's disappointing, as that has been one of the most informative sites on the Web regarding the North American railroad industry.

Well I guess my 10th of the month posting of pre-Amtrak consists to their Rail Travel Forum will have to wait.

I have one of The Century in sections during Xmas season 1962 ready to go.

But alas, all of these sites are "sort-of" in competition with one another, so I guess we must limit our plaudits of "the other guys' around here.

Mr. Norman,

Might the outage at rr.net have anything to do with your insertion of that avatar photo on your handle? [Wink]

It just might have been too much for the servers to handle!

It looks like it's operational as of this posting.
GBN, let's see those consists! I used to railfan at Harmon, NY before the term "railfan" was in vogue, so let's say I used to hang out there just to watch them change engines on the Century, a 6:45 pm ritual back in the day, circa 1956.
