The CBC has just reported that the police have issued a statement that the death of the woman was not related to the other 10 passengers who are ill.

There was a death on the Canadian last Friday into Saturday morning near Blue River, British Columbia. According to four friends who were aboard this train, the deceased had collapsed at the Vancouver station but insisted on boarding the train anyway.

Here's link to the Toronto Globe & Mail coverage; they also have a video of "experts talking about it" on their main page (www.globeandmail.com)

Passengers seem to have boarded the Canadian in Jasper. Funny, I got sick on the Canadian between Jasper & Vancouver last year, threw up all night. I don't know if that qualifies as "flulike symptoms" but it did seem like a 24-hour bug, I was OK (though tired) next day in Vancouver.

Case closed, incident resolved:

As David noted above, the passenger fatality was apparently unrelated to any possible infectious disease outbreak on board.
