Here's a local take (Santa Maria) on Surfliner ridership.

Most people who have ridden these trains lately will have noted the increase.

Frank, the spokesperson says "no plans to increase service" but wasn't there a suggestion of a third train between SBA and SLO not so long ago?

I guess this photo of the Starlight should be signed "Frank in Wildfire Ground Zero SBA".

Bot closer to topic, the same photographer has also submitted a photo of a single level Surfliner complete with Amtrak's one and only Great Dome (i.e. any Dome):

Mr. Norman--

Thanks for the links. Great pictures

#1, I believe, was taken near the Andree Clark Bird Refuge on the edge of Montecito. That swath of green in the background would be the Montecito Country Club owned by Beanie Baby mogul Ty Warner who lives nearby.

#2 was taken at Sandyland Beach between Summerland and Carpinteria. In the distance you can see the white towers of a Moorish Castle on the beach.
