My last trip to FL in December was such a pleasure, that I decided to do the train thing again this June.
My sister, who lives in Deerfield Beach, FL asked me to come down for a visit in June. I thought about driving and said "no way;" too much wear & tear on me & the car and I'd arrive tired & frazzled. I thought about flying - for about a minute. :-) While cheaper and faster, the hassle isn't worth it. Flying is no longer "fun;" too much hassle with airport security (I *detest* having to take off shoes and basically unpack everything before going through the scanner); too much worry about flights being over booked and/or canceled; other irritations too many to list.
Therefore, I booked myself a round trip roomette on the Silver Meteor. I'm "semi-retired" so I don't care if the train is late. I'm looking forward to a relatively leisurely ride down and back from Newark, NJ.
