You would think the Canadian govt. would be happy with the additional tourist business provided by a 2nd Seattle to Vancouver train.

I say just one Cascade train, per day, in each direction would be ok with me. The Washington state DOT is planning on extending the Cascade 513, from Bellingham to Vancouver, so that it starts out in Vancouver. That would allow one morning train from Seattle to Vancouver and Vancouver to Seattle. I would not mind if they drop the 517, from Vancouver to Seattle, as leaving Vancouver at 5:45 PM has you getting into Seattle around 10:00 PM..much too late in my opinion.
