An American would find the British rail system fantastic based on its frequency alone. City pairs and regionals that are served once a day here get a dozen or more trains per day there. But a Brit will ride trains on the Continent and turn green with envy. Ten years ago I drove a cab and I had an Italian passenger who said the Italian trains were the worst in the world.
