Clicked on the link-- very interesting, obscure stuff! Good find Richard. I was reading the fine print in one of the articles-- one of the conversions weighed in at 4 tons! All hand built perfection by the guys at the shops. Like one of the posters said-- these vehicles sure had a lot more class than today's bland F350-based high-railers, etc. Did you catch the part where you "crank the steering wheel counter-clockwise to apply an emergency brake," and that a RR bell and airhorn were also fitted? Any railfan would love one of these, just for the "cool" factor alone.

That was 4 tons or 8,000 pounds, not 8 tons.

Corrected..it was early, I was sleepy- so I multiplied 4 by 2, came up with 8- then wrote 8 tons in my post. Good catch, DF!
